I'm on a roll...

Day two of my blog! Yesterday I kept getting all excited about things I could write about and now....yea...

Today is the last day as a teaching assistant with the fifth grade class in the MASH program since tomorrow will be parent presentation day. It has been an exciting three weeks! I was able to lead frog and sheep brain dissections and teach about the nervous system. I feel like I learned just as much as my students! There were some great doctors that came to talk to the kids, but I got a lot out of it too! We also read "Gifted Hands" as a class by Dr. Ben Carson (which was a GREAT book) - since I was about 9 I've said I wanted to be a pediatric neurosurgeon, of course, now I'm not sure what I want to specialize in because neurosurgery isn't the best field for mommies, BUT I still want to make a huge difference in medicine like Dr. Carson has... Tomorrow he is going to do a teleconference for us from Johns Hopkins - I think I'm more excited than my class...LOL

This year was the pilot program for MASH in Indy and the turn out was awesome...over 100 students in total. Our class was the biggest. We started out with 24 fifth graders :-o... Definitely have an even bigger respect for teachers after this experience. I already thought they deserved a lot more credit and pay, but it just opened my eyes to the time and energy they really put into making learning fun. Working with kids has always been something I really enjoyed, but if I ever want to teach, I need to not only go to teaching school, but also pray long and hard for patience...LOL. I hope I can be a part of this next summer...The Hubs has been working as one of the sixth grade teaching assistants, it's been cool getting up and going to work together even though it was only for a few weeks :-)

In other news...Pumpkin is 18 months old today! Time flies...He was so cute after his bath last night. I put on his PJs and then he started whining and running to our bed...Hubs helped him get in and once he was in bed, he pulled the blanket up to his face and held out his hand for his ba (I know, I know...that is my next goal, but we're fighting one battle at a time...). He was sleep in less than ten minutes. I promptly moved him into his big boy bed for the night :-D
