Wordless Wednesday: Our Little Soccer Star

Our little guy started playing soccer two weeks ago. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown! I can't call him a baby anymore now that he plays organized sports!!!

Music Monday

I heard this song when I was on the way to take my Board exam and it was just what I needed to calm my nerves. The words are so comforting because it speaks to the fact that there is no need to worry. God is all things and will be all things that we need.

Hope you all have a blessed week!

Check Out My Interview on Accepted.com!

The first two official days of 3rd year have been AWESOME! I had a feeling over the weekend that I would end up loving my family medicine rotation, and I do. Everyone in the residency department (they coordinate our rotation) is really nice and seem so happy with their job. And I can already tell that my preceptor will be a great teacher. Everyone in her office was extremely welcoming and within an hour of being there, my nervousness was out the door and I felt comfortable enough to interact with patients and ask questions. Plus, I have already seen so much - women ready to deliver, mental health issues, well baby visits, and men and women of all ages and demographics. It even sounds like I may see a few deliveries this month...WOOT! Stay tuned :-)

In other news, please go check out an interview I did with Accepted.com on my experience applying for medical school and pass it on to any pre-medical students you know. (Click Here)

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

Wordless Wednesday: How I Spent My UN-Vacation Month

Of course, there was a lot of this...

But there was a day trip (literally 12 hours) to DC to celebrate my brother Carey (YAY!)...

A change in my hair color (which I still cannot believe I did! LOL)...

A trip back home in honor of my brother Jordan's Graduation (YAY!)...

And back to Indy that same day for my Natey's "Graduation" (Double YAY!)
:tear: He's growing SO fast...

Then...after seeing myself in all those pictures, I started working out at home consistently and eating better... No need to see my before photos, but so far I've lost 5lbs in the first month!

And there were even a few date nights...

I have a little more freedom left and then I start family medicine on July 9th. I'm so happy/blessed that despite studying for Boards, I was able to do so much already!

Happy Fourth of July!! Hope you all are having a great summer!!

I'm Baaaaaack!!!

Well hello strangers ;-)

I did it!!!
Me Leaving My Exam

As planned, last Thursday I sat for my USMLE Step 1 Licensure Exam. After 6 weeks of what seemed like incessant studying, it all came down to 322 questions on an 8 hour computer-based test. I was one of the few remaining of my classmates to take mine. Since technically third year started on June 11th, the majority of everyone took their exam before then. I, on the other hand, decided to forgo my vacation month and use the extra time to study. And I am so thankful it all worked out the way it did because, although this time was just about studying all day, every day, there was plenty more going on that I was not going to miss because of it (i.e. two of my brothers graduated this year!!! SO PROUD!!).

Leaving my exam I had mixed emotions. It was definitely exhausting and challenging, but I also felt prepared. I don't think I would have changed a thing about how I studied. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU so much to everyone who prayed for me and kept me in your thoughts this spring/summer. I got emotional numerous times while receiving all the texts, calls, tweets, and instagram comments of encouragement that poured in rooting for me. Every expression of support helped to keep me motivated more than you know.  There was definitely a peace within me throughout that day. Despite the adrenaline rush, my mind was clearly and my anxiety was low - I have no doubt that it was because of all the prayers that went up for me. Words cannot express my deepest and sincerest gratitude. Now the waiting game begins. I should have my score back in about 4 weeks!!!

Nate spent at least 4 of my 6 weeks of studying visiting with his grandmas + extended family. I know things would not have gone as smoothly had I not had everyone around me more-than-willing to pick up the slack. It's such a blessing to know that your child is being taken care of by people who will love him and keep him safe when you can't be there. Now for some special shout outs because, it takes a village to raise a kid...and send his mommy to med school.

THANK YOU TO....

My mom bka Natey's "Lita": You were my very first supporter and you never stopped supporting my dreams. You let me call you to freak out, but never let me forget how far I have come and how far God will continue to take me.

My mother-in-law bka Natey's "Maimeo": From day one you have been there when we called and sometimes without us having to ask. Thank you for all your love and support!

FaceTime catch up session while Natey was in Southfield
My dad bka Natey's Grampy: Thanks for checking in on me and all the advice, it's so cool to talk to you about doctor stuff now and actually know what I'm talking about haha!

Natey's cousins, Aunties, and Uncles: Nate had a blast spending time with each of you this summer, and we are so thankful to have such wonderful people like you in our lives. Hopefully we can be a blessing to you all like you have been to us.

And saving the best for last...

My Man: I love you so much and our son thinks you are the best thing since sliced bread ;-) It goes without saying that our life is crazy, draining, emotional, and TOUGH. Not many men would be comfortable handing business at home (on top of a full time job) while their wife is pursuing her dreams, but you have let me fly and that is a gift for which I will continue to be grateful.
 ----

I'm so happy to be off my blogging/social media hiatus! However, I think that prior to shutting most of everything down in April, it did get a little out of hand, and honestly, I enjoyed not being bothered with it - Facebook especially lol...  Needless to say, some changes are here to stay :-)

Well, I am off to enjoy my week of blissful vacation! :read going to get back in bed because I can:

So happy to be back and can't wait to blog about third year! xoxo
