Weekend Re-Cap

This past week Kappa Alpha Psi (Nate's frat) celebrated their 100 year anniversary in Indianapolis. The whole city was Krimson and Kreme...and FILLED with tourists. I knew that the hubby would be hanging out with his chapter all weekend, so I planned some fun for myself too. I managed to have not one, but TWO girls' nights out and it was a blast!

Saturday morning was the parent-student orientation for Camp M.D. - the program I have been preparing for/coordinating all summer. There are 22 high school students in our class and most of them - with the exception of a few - are interested in the health care professions. We have a VERY FULL three weeks planned for them including: CPR certification, hospital/professional school tours, SAT prep, and MD shadowing. It has only been two days of class, and I already feel that motherly attachment to my students. They are great kids and I know it's going to be a great time :-) You will definitely be hearing more about our fun times later...

Sunday, Little Nate left to spend the week with the hubby's mom in Michigan. He's been having a good time visiting everyone and playing with his two younger cousins. I think that the fact that I have been home with him everyday, all day, this summer, made the separation harder for me this time around. I was already in a semi-emotional funk, but this just sent me over the edge...picking up all his toys did not help much in stopping the tears...I am still missing my little pumpkin like crazy, but thank goodness for my job this week to help me pass the time.

The hubby and I are going to try and enjoy this child-free week the best we can. Hopefully we can get a few dates in - we have a bunch of restaurant and even some movie certificates to cash in as an added incentive. Yesterday, we went out to dinner and then sat and watched the water at the Canal where we got married. It was really nice :-)

Well, that's all for now!

Ciao!

Music Monday

Holiness, Holiness is what I long for
Holiness is what I need
Holiness, Holiness is what you want for me

Holiness, Holiness is what I long for
Holiness is what I need (ohoh)
Holiness, Holiness is what you want for me

Righteousness, Righteousness is what I long for
Righteousness, is what I need. (that's what I need)
Righteousness, that's what you want, that's what you want, that's what you want for me
So take my...

Take my heart and mold it,
Take my mind transform it, (take)
Take my will conform it, (to yours)
To yours, to yours, own

Brokenness, Brokeness, is what I long for
Brokeness, is what I need (gotta be broken)
Brokeness, Brokenness that's what you want for me

Take my heart and mold it, (take... my mind)
Take my mind transform it, (take my wil)
Take my will conform it, (conform my will)
To yours, to yours, oh Lord.

To yours, to yours, oh lord

Holiness, Holiness is what I long for
Holiness is what I need (gotta be holy)
Holiness, Holiness is what you want for me

Is what you want for me

Grateful Fridays.

TGIF! But I'm so glad I have more to thank God for than just because it's Friday.

I'm thankful for...

waking up this morning

quiet and peaceful moments in the morning before Pumpkin's awake so I can be with God

being able to not work for the first part of the summer or worry about money, thanks to leftover med school loans and a hard working husband

our health and strength

such a loving little boy that brings so much sunshine to my life - even during his terrible twos

the other mom's I know and have become friends with

the renewal of my scholarship

being at peace with where I am in life right now...

I could probably add so much more to this list but I'll stop there. God is so good.

I hope you can spend some time this weekend reflecting on the many blessings in your life.

Have a great day!

What does 23 Look Like?

Sometimes I forget how old I am because my life is what most would consider a bit more mature...lol

Sometimes I feel like I went from carefree teenager to full blown woman over night.

This isn't very surprising since I spent my 21st birthday at dinner with my family sipping guiltily on lemonade because I was expecting.

THIS is what 23 looks like on Rhianna.

Don't even get me started on what motherhood of twins AND 40 looks like on J.Lo

Even at 52, Barbie has more pizzazz...

If it was up to the media we would all be made to feel like an epic fail. Don't get me wrong, I would gladly accept a team of sylists, make-up artists, chefs, trainers, and air-brushers so I could walk out everyday feeling flawless, but it feels good to know that I don't need all that to feel good about myself and what 24 will look like on me next month.
